Committing to Change: Signing Up for OrangeTheory's Transformation Challenge

Today, I took a big step toward getting back on track with my fitness journey by signing up for OrangeTheory’s Transformation Challenge. This 8-week challenge gives participants the option to focus on either fat loss or muscle gain. For me, the goal is fat loss. Yesterday, I weighed in using the InBody scanner, and the results made me mad: 127.7 pounds with 43% body fat. For reference, I am 4'11" so although it doesn't seem like a lot of weight, it is for someone who is the height of a 3rd grader.

These numbers are higher than my usual weight and body fat percentage, and while seeing them stung, they also ignited a sense of determination. The past few months have been tough on my body. In September, I fractured my toes on my left foot, and just seven weeks after healing, I fractured my toes on my right foot. (That’s a story for another blog post.)

Needless to say, my fitness routine took a backseat as I focused on recovery. Three months without consistent workouts, coupled with the physical and emotional toll of being sidelined, has left me feeling disconnected from the active lifestyle I’m used to. Although my toes aren’t fully back to normal and there’s still some discomfort, I’m tired of being sedentary. I’ve decided that it’s time to start moving again—carefully and with intention.

The Transformation Challenge feels like the perfect opportunity to reclaim my fitness. Over the next 8 weeks, I’ll be checking in weekly with my stats to track my progress. It’s not just about the numbers, though; it’s about rebuilding my confidence and reminding myself of what my body is capable of.

I know this won’t be an easy journey. Starting over—especially after an injury—requires patience, grit, and self-compassion. But I’m ready to put in the work. Here’s to taking the first step, even if it’s a little wobbly.
