Scene: It’s a random Tuesday night. I’m mindlessly scrolling through TikTok, just looking for a laugh or a cool hack, when the algorithm—oh, the all-knowing algorithm—hits me with her. You know who I’m talking about: the TikTok tarot lady with the dim lighting, that soft music in the background, and her crystals all around. She draws a card, looks into the camera, and with this mystical confidence, says, “He misses you. He’s thinking about you right now.”
And suddenly, I’m sitting up straighter, heart pounding, like, "OMG, does he really?" It’s like she can see right into my SOUL. And I’m hit with this wave of validation that, yes, my delusions are entirely justified. TikTok astrology lady has spoken, and if she says he’s thinking about me, it’s practically concrete evidence. Right?
But let’s be real… I know deep down this is probably just one of many generic readings she posts to draw in the delulus. Yet every time, it feels so personal, so specific. She's like "He has dark hair" and I am like "OMG YES TF HE DOES OMMGGGG!" The algorithm knows exactly what I want to hear and serves it up with a side of tarot and a sprinkle of hope.
I know I’m not the only one who’s fallen into this trap, right? I mean, there’s something weirdly comforting about it. I almost wish the algorithm would stop feeding into my delusions because I can see right through it. But every once in a while… it’s kinda nice to believe the universe is on my side and he really is missing me.
Anyone else experiencing this? Tell me you have, because honestly, I could really use some solidarity in my algorithm-fueled delusions. 😂
